My new obsession...

Ahh yes it's happened again, I have fallen in love with another website. This time it's Poladroid a website that lets you turn your regular digital pictures into fabulous polaroid pics! Now sadly if you haven't heard they have stopped making the instant cameras and only have enough instant film to last through 2009. This is really upsetting to me because I have always loved the look and coloring of Polaroid, yeah there is always Photoshop to adjust your pics but it's just not the same. This is an awesome alternative and of course i've spent a lot of my day changing my current pics which now look so lame in comparison.

A giggle for your Friday...

Free Comic Book Day...

I heard on the radio this morning that tomorrow is Free Comic Book Day all across the country! Now I am not a comic book reader but I always loved how fabulous Wonder Woman was!

"Ooh, with the bracelets and the tiara. I used to love that even her accessories had superpowers." ~ Carrie Bradshaw

If you are an avid reader or just love giveaways, check out the website to find a comic store near you. Happy reading!!

Rachel vs. her keychain...

I finally went grocery shopping the other day and when I handed over my keychain, I was kinda grossed out at myself when I saw that most of the cards were dirty, bent and slightly chewed (not by myself but rather a fluffy 6lb blonde who shall remain nameless). So it was like grocery fate that the next morning I was watching news and they did a story about this website!
KeyRingThing.com is a website that lets you put up to 6 of your store discount cards onto one tiny little card instead of lugging around all of them at once. Now it's free to actually do the service but if you need them to ship you a laminated copy they charge a processing fee.

P.S. I know my picture doesn't actually have anything to do with keychains or discount cards but when I googled pink keys that's what came up and I loved it so much I just went with it.

Drop Dead Who???

Ummm who's idea was this??? Universal Pictures is currently developing a remake of the cult hit Drop Dead Fred starring Russell Brand????

The 1991 original starred Phoebe Cates as a wallflower who loses her job and husband during the course of a lunch hour. Forced to live back home, she's reunited with her childhood imaginary friend (Brit actor Rik Mayall), who promises to help but causes more havoc.

Apparently this version is going to have some Beetlejuice-like qualities where it's actually a whole world of imaginary friends. Brand will play the troublemaker pal.

Ugh let me just start by telling you that I don't understand what people think is funny about Russell Brand. He hosted the MTV Awards and it was awkward, forced and not funny. Then he was in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and while that movie was hysterical it was only because of Jason Segel and him being naked when Kristen Bell was breaking up with him. Now I am all for remakes when they give a new vision to a classic movie but this sounds like it's gonna be a hot mess, hopefully i'll be proved wrong because I loved this movie growing up!!

These will be some stylish babies...

A big congratulations goes out to one of my most favorite stylish couples Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, they are expecting twin girls via a surrogate.

The couple already has a 6-year old son James Wilke.

"They came to the conclusion that this was going to be the best alternative for expanding their family," the friend told Entertainment Weekly.

Now this is really happy news especially after all the rumors that they were actually on the rocks and looking to split. I know SJP comes from a large family and always talks about how she loves being a Momma first and foremost so i'm sure she is ecstatic about adding 2 soon-to-be fashionistas to her clan.

Happy Tuesday...

Omg this story made my Tuesday!!

WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Tinker Bell has been reunited with her owners after a 70-mph gust of wind picked up the six-pound Chihuahua and tossed her out of sight.
Dorothy and Lavern Utley credit a pet psychic for guiding them on Monday to a wooded area nearly a mile from where 8-month-old Tinker Bell had been last seen. The brown long-haired dog was dirty and hungry but otherwise OK.
The Utleys, of Rochester, had set up an outdoor display Saturday at a flea market in Waterford Township, 25 miles northwest of Detroit. Tinker Bell was standing on their platform trailer when she was swept away.
Dorothy Utley tells The Detroit News that her cherished pet "just went wild" upon seeing her

First things first - why would you leave a 6lb chihuahua on a platform when there are 70-mph gusts of wind?? Besides that this story is awesome cause I can just imagine how horrified and upset those poor owners were when they saw their beautiful Tinker Bell swept away Dorothy style. Also they used a pet psychic?? This whole thing just made the fact that I am spending yet another beautiful day in a gray cube a little bit easier to take.

P.S. The chihuahua pictured is not actually Tinker Bell, his name is Carlos and he belongs to a friend of mine. I'm not quite sure why he is holding him like a burrito but I promise you he is well taken care of.

Thank you for being a friend...

We lost an amazing woman and talent today, the fabulous Bea Arthur. She died peacefully with her family by her side in Los Angeles, she had cancer her family spokesman said.

Arthur first appeared in the landmark comedy series "All in the Family" as Edith Bunker's loudly outspoken, liberal cousin, Maude Finley. She proved a perfect foil for blue-collar bigot Archie Bunker (Carroll O'Connor), and their blistering exchanges were so entertaining that producer Norman Lear fashioned Arthur's own series.

"Golden Girls" (1985-1992) was another groundbreaking comedy, finding surprising success in a television market increasingly skewed toward a younger, product-buying audience.
The series concerned three retirees — Arthur, Betty White and Rue McClanahan — and the mother of Arthur's character, Estelle Getty, who lived together in a Miami apartment. In contrast to the violent "Miami Vice," the comedy was nicknamed "Miami Nice."
As Dorothy Zbornak, Arthur seemed as caustic and domineering as Maude. She was unconcerned about the similarity of the two roles. "Look — I'm 5-feet-9, I have a deep voice and I have a way with a line," she told an interviewer. "What can I do about it? I can't stay home waiting for something different. I think it's a total waste of energy worrying about typecasting."
The interplay among the four women and their relations with men fueled the comedy, and the show amassed a big audience and 10 Emmys, including two as best comedy series and individual awards for each of the stars.
In 1992, Arthur announced she was leaving "Golden Girls." The three other stars returned in "The Golden Palace," but it lasted only one season.

Growing up I was totally obsessed with Golden Girls and still love to watch re-runs on Lifetime. My friends and I always dreamed about one day growing old together in a beautiful house in Florida, drinking cocktails and watching our hot young boy in a speedo skim the pool in the backyard. You will be missed Bea!

You're welcome...

Here is your first peek at the Quileute wolf pack from New Moon - oh i'm sorry The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Please welcome Chaske Spencer, Alex Meraz, Kiowa Gordon and Bronson Pelletier who all have Native American heritage. Although I don't completely agree with all the casting decisions (what is wrong with Jasper's hair/creepy demeanor and why on Earth wouldn't they pick a natural blonde to play Rosalie??) I am very pleased that they did keep the integrity of the book intact by having all Native American actors play the wolf pack rather than casting a bunch of hot buff guys who happened to have an olive skin tone. I would like the one on the far left you guys can fight over the rest of them:0)

Not so fast Mr. Beer Goggles...

A recent study has proven that alcohol actually has the opposite effect and can make men see women as less attractive proving that the term Beer Goggles is just a myth!

Scientists asked a group of 240 men and women in bars and cafes to look at photos of women and comment on their age and attractiveness.
Half the participants used in the experiment had consumed alcoholic drinks, with effects rated as "relaxed and benign", "blunted and disinhibited", "boisterous and over-expressive", and "unambiguously drunk".
Some of the pictures of 10 young women aged 17 were digitally altered to make them appear younger or older. Make-up was also applied digitally to a number of images.
The findings showed that alcohol reduced the ability of women to guess the age of the photo models, but not men.
Both the effects of alcohol and prettifying a face with make-up had little effect on men's judgment.
Dr Vincent Egan, from the University of Leicester, said: "This study suggests that alcohol consumption and make-up use do not interfere with how old we perceive someone to be.
"Another interesting finding was that overall participants who drank alcohol actually rated all the women in the photos as less attractive, compared to the participants who hadn't drunk alcohol. This seemingly flies in the face of the commonly held notion of 'beer goggles'."
Participants consistently over-estimated the age of both mature and immature faces by an average of 3.5 years.
Reporting their results in the British Journal of Psychology, the researchers wrote: "Although alcohol limited the processing of maturity cues in female observers, it had no effect on the age perceptions of males viewing female faces, suggesting male mate preferences are not easily disrupted."
On a more serious note, they said the influence of alcohol should not be a mitigating factor in the case of a man accused of having sex with someone under-age.
"Our study suggests that even heavy alcohol consumption does not interfere with age-perception tasks in men, so is not of itself an excuse for apparent mistaken age in cases of unlawful sex with a minor," they wrote.

Now I had a feeling about this one! It probably has to do with the fact that I have never had a few too many and thought someone looked hotter than they were and in turn madeout with said person but that's just me. I think a lot of times people use alcohol as an excuse for doing bad behavior that they wanted to do anyways whether or not they did that extra Jagerbomb. We all have made dumb errors in judgement while drinking, mine usually involves textual harassment and mozzerella sticks. I just find it funny that the old excuse of beer goggles actually isn't an excuse at all!

Rachel vs. The Meatheads...

So last night I did something amazing... I went to the gym! Ok I get that it's a normal thing and most of you do it several times a week but not this girl. This girl pays for gym memberships with every intention of going only to be pursuaded to not go by anyone who has something even remotely interesting to do. Lately however I have realized that I can no longer go to Geno's at 2am and still feel cute in my skinny jeans the next day.

So last night in the pouring rain I trekked my soon-to-be toned butt to the gym to meet my friend Holly. First of all let me tell you that it was insanely packed, which I get everyone works during the day so 6:30pm would be a primetime to excercise. After 25 minutes on the treadmill we wanted to use the weights and what we discovered was a bunch of meatheads standing around them and instead of using them just talking and being sweaty.

Now this is what really makes me annoyed about the gym. When I go there I want to get my workout done and over with, I am not one of those people who goes to the gym to socialize. We ended up using some of the arm machines instead of the free weights because I gotta say the thought of going up to the giant men and making them move was intimidating. Would you have done something different? My friend Carlee loves acting like one of the boys at the gym and I know she would've pushed herself right inbetween them and gotten her workout on.
So that's my gym annoyance for the day i'm sure I will have another one tomorrow cause I will be returning tonight and I am determined to use a free weight!
