Drop Dead Who???

Ummm who's idea was this??? Universal Pictures is currently developing a remake of the cult hit Drop Dead Fred starring Russell Brand????

The 1991 original starred Phoebe Cates as a wallflower who loses her job and husband during the course of a lunch hour. Forced to live back home, she's reunited with her childhood imaginary friend (Brit actor Rik Mayall), who promises to help but causes more havoc.

Apparently this version is going to have some Beetlejuice-like qualities where it's actually a whole world of imaginary friends. Brand will play the troublemaker pal.

Ugh let me just start by telling you that I don't understand what people think is funny about Russell Brand. He hosted the MTV Awards and it was awkward, forced and not funny. Then he was in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and while that movie was hysterical it was only because of Jason Segel and him being naked when Kristen Bell was breaking up with him. Now I am all for remakes when they give a new vision to a classic movie but this sounds like it's gonna be a hot mess, hopefully i'll be proved wrong because I loved this movie growing up!!

  8. I do not get the hype with him at all, but he seems to be massive everywhere! He was quite tolerable in Forgetting Sarah Marshall though.

Also not pleased with all the remakes these days: most of the time it's not meant in any form of homages, rather just a blatantly grasp at box offices!
